Fifa 2010 was released last night at midnight, and my husband was determined to get a copy if it meant him sleeping in asda. As he works on the music, video and games department he left a copy of the game behind customer service for a quick getaway.

So he finishes work at 10pm and insists he is gonna camp in the staff room until midnight and then taxi it home, I’m not great with the idea so volunteer to run him for it, the store is only 2 mins away.

So I go to bed, fall half asleep when I’m awaken like its christmas to get up and take him to get his bloody footie game. I argued he could probably wait till morning but he insists he can’t.

So I get up, tired, now cold and in my pjs. We get to asda and I’m gobsmacked, about 50 people are already queueing and there’s more teenage boys, men in suits, men dragging wives and girlfriends wearing slippers and pjs and butch ladies piling into asda.

Its 11:50pm and a sad looking bloke walks out with his girlfriend, a bag of shopping was all he was clutching and I hear him give one last plee as they get back into the car.

12 midnight and the sad looking bloke is back, looking less sad and sans girlfriend, I hope he dropped her home and not into a nearby canal.

There’s a few grown men wearing full football kits emerging from the doors, game in hand, but the queue inside is now huge.

Then out walks my husband, huge smug smile on his face, with the game and a pressie for me in a bag. The eagle eyes in the queue are baffled as to how he has the game and throw him a dirty look. But out he pops, even managing a ‘look what I got’ to some friends in the waiting line.

And for my amazing wifeness…

I probably love my Google account more than most women love their shoes. Its like my own little life coach, reminding me when to clean my car, or what’s on the menu for tonight’s meal and its all conveniently thrown at me on my iGoogle homepage. So after a day at work, I can quickly check my calendar either on my netbook or on my Nokia E71 and off we go.

I run numerous calendars, all obsessively colour co-ordinated. One for housework, one for paydays and bills, one for the cinema (as we have unlimited cinema passes) and another reminding me whats for Tea (or dinner for non-northerners)!

Ive also got my analytics set up on all of my websites, my gmail and iGoogle keeping me in the loop and lets not forget the 2 most important features… Maps and Docs.

Im a list maker… and all my lists live in Google Docs. Should Google Docs ever get deleted, id be seriously screwed… no shopping list, no packing list for my hols, no dining reservation list for my Disneyworld obsession, and also no point by point itinerary for that same Disneyworld holiday. Call me sad, but Google Docs even planned my wedding… I kid you not, those spreadsheets saved my life when planning the guestlist and keeping track of the giftlist and thank you’s.

Maps serves me in another purpose, reminding me of places to visit and restaurants to try in other countries I plan to visit soon. My Florida map has easily over 150 places marked on it. I even did a Google Map for the guests at my wedding, linking to it from my website, it showed the place I got married and neighbouring hotels and restaurants. I think a few people used it.

My point is, as long as you can get your Google account to work for you, it can be a very powerful tool, so go sign up… and enjoy.
